Birthday party outfit in pink and purple
Look! My new trousers have arrived, and believe it or not, they are loose on the thighs. Even though it's supposed to be the same as the navy ones i got recently. No, sadly I didn't loose weight! Anyway, here I am:
Apart from the clutch everything was as planned, but being a bit stressed since we were running late, I grabbed another one. What I had in mind was a lime green one. And the inspiration? Well, a secret and recent obsession: Lucky Luke cartoons! I watch them on TV (my daughter watches...), only to see the colours that I think are often brilliant. So I sit there with my little note book and write down colour combinations that I like. And the pink, purple and slightly dirty lime just caught my eye one day.
The purple jacket like thing is about ten years old, and falling to pieces. I have mended it before, and again this week. But it's the last time, the thin silk fabric is just worn out. It has been one of my favorites, and I don't know how to replace it.
After having had many stressful experiences, minutes before leaving the house for various parties, dates etc. I have made it a habit to plan my outfits ahead, all the way down to socks, rings on my fingers and the colour of the lipstick. I find that with a limited wardrobe such as mine it's especially important to make plans in advance, to avoid last minute panic attacks, and also not to wear those same favorites every time. Buying new trousers do help of course!
Next week I will be on holiday. Depending on the weather I will be wearing my new bathing suit. It's been waiting in my closet for some weeks now, and I can't wait to show it (probably with a sarong since I'm quite body conscious below the waist). Since we are staying in a tent I'm planning some very relaxed outfits, some including my harem pants! They really do make me feel like I'm not wearing anything at all, and lots of other people there will be in track suits which I find worse. How's that for an excuse to wear unflattering clothes?

The capsule wardrobe and the pink and red dress
After several days of taking care of my daughter who got the flu I'm behind schedule getting ready for our holiday. We will be camping on a small island not too far away. So, I never got the chance to dress for anything or have my photo taken. But today I managed to get a blue t-shirt on sale from H&M, and it fits right into my capsule wardrobe. With the grey trousers, the jeans and the pencil skirt it will give me three new outfits, and adding the cardigan or the jacket makes it 6 new different outfits. The best part is the price: $ 6!
Remember the pink and red dress?
Yesterday it arrived, and it is going back again. It is just too short for my comfort. Instead I've ordered a red pencil skirt, a shape that i know is more flattering on me. Paired with a pink fitted top it will be almost as good as a dress. It will also be more versatile since it's separates.
Tomorrow is going to be busy as well, giving me no photo option, but on Saturday a friend is throwing a birthday party, and there will be pictures of my outfit!

Zoo night, Dress your best finale plus capsule wardrobe outfits
On Wednesday night my family and a few friends were at an open night at the zoo. When the photo was taken it was 8 in the evening, after a beautiful, sunny day. It was an amazing evening, warm, no wind and not a mosquito in sight! My daughter took this photo:
These sandals are great for walking, but I'm not crazy about the style. The skirt looks black, but it's the navy spotted one from my capsule wardrobe. I still can't talk about the haircut!
On Thursday evening we suddenly decided to go out for dinner at a nearby restaurant, and my lovely daughter did her best again:
And there's a close up, with my new specs...
Maybe it's because she's lower than me, but I'm not happy with this angle! It's the first time I've paired these colours. With the contrast of the jeans that I don't wear very often anymore, and the orange shoes, I think they're alright. Had it only been the blue and purple together I wouldn't have liked it.
This is also the last photo in the Dress your best challenge. The spectacles are hopefully bringing some focus to my nose (and taking it away from the neck area!). I like the top very much, the way it shows off my bust and waist. My forearms are exposed, however without the bangles, and I try to smile all the time! Earlier I promised to have a dress your best day every week. I thought Monday would be perfect, since it's always tough to get started after the weekend. Tha will make my Mondays more fun.
Yesterday I went shopping with my best friend. Since I'm on a tight budget I didn't buy much. In fact only one thing. I thought it was a wise investment, I count it as an addition to my capsule wardrobe...
I apologize for the poor photo, but it was the best I could do with limitations in space and lighting :
It's floor length, lurex knit, most likely from the sixties. The colour is really quite similar to the ruched top I was wearing on the other photos. I even have three different pairs of shoes to wear with it, making three different outfits (I'm doing my best to justify my purchase!):
Very colourful and eye catching shoes, matching the lurex perfectly!
More discrete but very cute, and so comfortable to dance in!
These are so soft, and I love the colour. Maybe that's what this dress needs, a bit of contrast. As soon as I get invited to a party that calls for long dresses I will surely wear it, and post photos!
