To stand out and be more visible I added some sparkling bits!
New necklace |
The new necklace is from Zara. When I bought it, I also considered some larger versions but decided I don't have tops with suitable necklines. The rings are old, and unfortunately just glass! I wore this outfit with my beloved old cheap jacket that I customized with Indian brocade edging.
Old jacket and new necklace |
I've always had a weakness for diamante jewellery, and I like piling it on. I really should have married someone royal! Or maybe it's a good thing that I didn't!
Necklace, rings, brooch |
If my hands were smaller and fit more jewellery, I would be wearing more rings and certainly lots of bangles!
Saturday morning my daughter was on duty at the scouts' monthly flea market, so the whole family went. It's very popular since the prices are extremely low. I know it's nothing compared to UK and US flea markets, but it's big in Denmark!
A large barn like building |
Outside the building the scouts had little stalls with games and goodies for sale.
Lots of people, my husband in red! |
Inside there's all sorts of treasures for sale - one corner is reserved for textiles and related tools, some very old or old fashioned.
Tablecloths |
Wooden tools for textile crafts |
It's been a while since our last visit, so we had lots of new things to look at. Coloured glass is another weakness of mine - and I got these two treasures:
Handmade glass |
It's hard to see the vase, so here's another photo:
Calla like shape at the top |
The price was around £ 7,50 or 12 $, that is 75,- dkr., altogether. I'm planning to get some Calla lilies since they would match shape of the vase perfectly.
Now before I'm letting you get over to Patti's Not Dead Yet Style for Visible Monday, I just have one more photo of my jacket and almost real diamonds!
If only they were real! |
I wish you all a lovely week - hope to see you soon!
You must have really enjoyed that sale, it looks like a great collection of treasures. Your new sparkly necklace is gorgeous, and I love a classic outfit shined up this way!
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up to Visible Monday.
Thank you very much Patti! I don't think this kind of sparkle ever goes out of fashion - so it's a wise investment, right?
DeleteWhat a pretty drape in that top. Looks very expensive the way it fits you.
ReplyDeleteI love seeing jeans styled up because that's what I wear for the most part. But I'm really trying to add dresses and skirts now too.
Thank you so much Joni! The top was really very cheap - it's an old H&M. When everybody wears jeans it becomes boring, so I wanted to do something that made me stand out. But today I'm in a dress again!
DeleteI think you turned something that sometimes is pretty boring into a very nice and stylish outfit. I love the last photo of you! Am I right if I assume that your husband took it? You always sparkle on those photos! :-) If I am wrong, then I am going to come to you and learn how to take that good photos of yourself.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much Anna! I did in fact take all the photos myself! On the last one I was just so delighted with all my bling!
DeleteAlmost real sparkling bits are GREAT in my opinion. Coco Chanel said that a woman can't be expected to wear only real jewelry. It is not about money, it is about adorning herself. She was a big fan of mixing costume and real. Seriously though, if it sparkles, it is real. :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Rachel! Usually I do prefer real gemstones and pearls to fake - but when it comes to diamonds, and in this size, I don't have a choice! And you're right: It's not about how much money I'm carrying around on my body, but how it looks!
DeleteI love your jacket...very versatile piece to have! I enjoy rooting around the markets too!
ReplyDelete~Anne
Thank very much Anne! I can only agree - this jacket has been with me for around 7 years now!
DeleteThat final photo of you is so beautiful! You take wondeful close-up shots, what's your secret? (Apart from having your husband take the pics!)
ReplyDeleteLove the look of the flea market, and I am a sucker for coloured glass too, that vase will be stunning with lilies in it.
Lots of sparkle will brighten up any outfit, more is more! xxxxx
Thank you very much Curtise! These photos were actually taken by myself, and I think it's down to practice - I almost always take my own photos. I get home before the rest of the family, so there's no one here to do it.
DeleteYour motto, more is more, has always been mine too!
Bling is the thing- you sparkle! I love the pins on the blazer- what a great tweedy thing it is too!
ReplyDeleteGreat score on the blown glass vase- calla lilies are going to look gorgeous in it.
Thank you so much Bella! There's a small chance that you'll see this blazer again, soon! Autumn is tweed time, right?
DeleteLovely blazer and blings! I think you look great in black!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much! I think black alright for me as long as I add something extra, colourful accessories or lots of sparkling jewellery.
DeleteOh, the new necklace is just lovely and really dresses up the black. And that vase is exquisite.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Terri! I'm looking forward to wearing it at night time. Candle light will really make it sparkle!
DeleteYou look really smart in black. I love the large photo of you, so pretty
ReplyDeleteXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Thank you very much Sacramento! I hope it wasn't just a lucky shot!
DeleteThe brooch is so lovely, never seen one like it! you know what you look so lovely in black! I love black as well - i rarely wear it as well - i will keep it for formal occasions - The vase you bought, omg! what a beauty!
ReplyDeleteSo you are from Denmark! that is a nice country - I went in 1987, we went to the North Sea - Legoland - and another place can not remember - It was one of my favorite country in Europe -looked a bit like Canada -
Take care
Will see you soon
Ariane xxx
Thank you very much Ariane! I suspected that Canada and Denmark would have a lot in common. We just need the French influence here! I'm very happy with the vase too. Sometimes these things are just waiting for you to come and pick them up!
DeletePerfect lines and style.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Clara!
DeleteBeautiful in black!!! I'll confess I love wearing it and wore it almost exclusively until relatively recently. The new necklace is perfect as well.
ReplyDeleteI loved seeing the glimpse of your world in the photos of the flea market. The sky looked so pretty, too. I think I would have gone crazy in the textile corner but you did so well with the glass pieces; they are lovely.
The
Thank you very much Jean! If only I was better at caring for the old textiles, I would buy lots of them. But I'm not very good at getting spots of tablecloths, and ironing certainly isn't my strong point! And they deserve better, I think. All I can do is admire them!
DeleteOh, jackets and almost diamonds, my two favorites! I like the trim you added. I think this is one of my fave's of your outfits.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Debbi! Adding the trim made all the difference! The minute I saw the jacket in the supermarket, of all places!, I knew I had the perfect edging for it! Later it turned out to be perfect with my almost diamonds!
ReplyDeleteAlmost-real-diamonds are a girl's best friend! I like this combo. The dark jeans work well and your extra touch with the edging is brilliant.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much Melanie! These diamonds are also easy on the bank account, another reason to stick with them!
DeleteI'm definitely in favor of multiple rings!
ReplyDeleteThank you so Wendy! I have to agree!
DeleteSorry Im a bit uhm very late to the party :) I guess you are an diamonds are a girls best friend kind of gal. :) I do love how the bling bling turned your outfit from ordinary to extraordinary. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Monica! Having spent years on making jewellery I have a weakness for all stones, both precious and semi-precious! Since I'm not trained as a goldsmith I don't know how to make rings, or bangles. Therefore my collection lacks those... Well, it's not as substantial as my necklace collection! I haven't made many diamond necklaces either, mostly because of the price!
