On Tuesday I wore my very colourful top, and I suddenly realized that these were exactly the colours that I was searching for last summer:
Yes, me too - PicMonkey rules! |
I was so in love with that pink and orange dress from H&M, and I was so disappointed when it arrived! The colours were everything I hoped for, but the fit made me look 7 months pregnant!
Today at school I wore my vintage jacket again. I love the pattern and the colours - and the glittery lurex! It's my favorite piece in the capsule.
Same jacket and jeans, but new t-shirt! |
You may not notice at first, but I'm also wearing new shoes. They're from Ecco - a Danish brand that are usually too narrow for my feet. These were Okay, and there's even room for my arch supports. The black patent shoes I wore in my previous post are more fun than these, but too small for the inlays.
Vintage jacket and new comfortable shoes |
After the first week of limiting myself to this little capsule, I can see problems ahead. There's not enough variety in colours. A few pieces are still missing. With such a small capsule, it becomes very obvious that there are gaps, the same jacket will be worn over and over again.
What I'm planning to do, is to add more colours that together can act as another capsule and individually work with the first one. But that's for later - the next three months I'm restricting myself to a quite small amount of money to be spent on clothes shopping. Maybe I'm saving up for a skiing holiday in Sweden (visiting Anna and going shopping), maybe saving up to buy a huge closet for my capsules!
A lovely weekend to all of you!
Oh yes, another PicMonkey collage maker! It's fun, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteI do love the colours you have chosen for your (first) capsule, but I can see you might get to a stage of craving other colours, some green or turquoise or mustard! Your bright top and jacket are my favourites too, it's the colours and the patterns which appeal to me so much, of course.
Your sleepy dog is the most beautiful creature! The perfect accessory for a capsule wardrobe - goes with everything!
Have a lovely weekend. xxxxx
Thank you so much Curtise! Having given the capsule even more thought, I also need more options, that take the weather into account. Only three short sleeved tops are too little for the warm season, when layering isn't an option. It simply gets boring to look at and live in!
DeleteI'm a huge Ecco shoe fan. I recently bought some sandals that work with my arch support too. I'm very interested in the ones you have on. I must go check them out and see if they're on zappos.
ReplyDeleteYour collage's look great! And too bad you didn't like the fit of the dress, even if you altered it somehow? It's so you!
Thank you very much Joni! The Ecco shoes are called Biom. There's some new technology built in that I never bothered to learn about! But they're nice to walk in, and quite roomy.
DeleteThe dress was way too short, and the elasticated waistline was much too low - and without sewing skills I couldn't imagine how to make it work. Now I have a top with the same colours in it - and it fits me so much better - I'm thankful!
I agree with Joni - that dress is perfect for you, color wise! I have heard of Ecco shoes too - I think they are known to be very comfortable while stylish at the same time. I really like yours.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Patti! The brand Ecco started out as comfortable above all, and certainly not stylish. That image has stuck with them for years. It's hard to change a brands image - not done over night. The last couple of years, a few of their shoes have made it to the fashion magazines, and that's a start.
DeleteThat is a fabulous jacket. I think it would be nice to always wear the same colours for a while - sophisticated.
ReplyDeleteAlso like the pink-orange together - reminds me of things Swedish for some reason.
Is that your doggy? Cute, and Big!
Thank you very much Narda! Living right next to Sweden - (about 30 min. away!) I can tell you that there's not a lot of pink and orange over there! H&M is of course Swedish, but I think the Finnish brand Marimekko used these colours a lot in the 1960's and 1970's. Finland being another neighbor of Sweden, and part of Scandinavia, may have tricked you into associating these colours with Sweden.
DeleteI love your jacket too! Great colours:) I am on the hunt for good fitting jeans this A/W.
ReplyDelete~Anne
Thank you Anne! Good fitting jeans are a must have for all of us, and it can just take so long to find them! I just got a new pair the other day, too long but fitting me a lot better than my old jeans!
DeleteYes to everything - to your capsule outfits (and to add more colors and pieces), pic monkey (need to check that out), Ecco shoes, definitely yes to winter vacation in Sweden! Actually South of Sweden's biggest ski resort (Isaberg) is located about an hour from were we live, if you don't want to drive to the north of Sweden. Have a nice weekend Tine!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much Anna! Isaberg is a well known ski resort to all people in the Greater Copenhagen area. And to all of us, who have lived on the North shore of Zealand, right next to Helsingør!
DeleteIn fact, the first 6 years of my life, I lived in Helsingør - and went to Helsingborg several times a week! My mother went over to buy cheap wine, coffee and sugar. She smuggled it home in the baby lift!
I love the colour combination so much.
ReplyDeleteWe are ok for the fire, and the heat is slowly easing. We are about 30ºc today.
Thank you for caring.
Have a lovely weekend.

Thank you Sacramento! It's nice to hear that things haven't gotten out of hand the way it did in the Pyrenees. I'd love to exchange temperatures though!
DeleteI love these colours on you. But I think we should all have gorgeous Dog as accessory as well! Great photos.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Melanie! I never get the same amount of attention without my dog, as I get when I'm walking him! Not only is he a beautiful dog, he's also by far the nicest, most loving dog we've ever had. We got him from a Swedish family, 9 months old. They had named him Congo. I suspect it's a manifestation of Swedish sense of humor!
DeleteI like your capsule, red, pink and burgundy are brilliant together. :) sorry to hear of HM dress poorly fit. You win some you loose some ;)
ReplyDeleteThank you very much Monica! With H&M there's always some gambling involved. My all time favorite knitted dress is five years old and cost me 100,- kr. It just shows that they're very inconsistent in their fit and size.
DeleteI absolutely love the second look! It's comfy and dressy at the same time and I'm thinking that a careful study of colors can go a long way in a wardrobe.
DeleteLove these colors and I remember how much I liked that jacket too. Your dog is amazing. :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you very much Rachel! Since I'm a bit short on jackets, it's bound to reappear frequently!
