Blue Alexon dress

I'm back! After a week of hard work at school, and a runny nose. Today's photos will probably be the last outdoor photos in 2012, it's already too dark at 2 pm!

Alexon dress

At first when I got this dress, I wanted to return it. Then I forgot, and it was too late. Now I'm stuck with it, so I thought I'd give it a chance. It still looks like a big blue sack to me!

I know I've worn this pink scarf in every picture on the blog for a month or so, but it just goes with so much. I promise to look for a different one, just to get some variety!

Best bracelets and rings!

What makes Mondays the best days of the week (apart from the weekend!) is Visible Monday at Not Dead Yet Style, hosted by the always elegant and stylish Patti! I'm going to join the fun in a second.

I'm terribly late on commenting on everybody's blogs, but I'll get around to it in the next couple of days. Now I just want to wish you all a happy Monday, and  a great week!

  1. I think it is perfect, perphaps you could add a belt.

    1. Thank you very much Sacramento! A belt could be a solution... I'll see what I can do.

    1. Thank you so much Anne! This pink scarf has been added quite a few times now!

  3. Actually I think it's very flattering on you. If you want more waist definition, a small pleat at the sides or back would be easy, or you could add a belt just below the knot.

    1. Thank you very much Simone! I will give the belt advice serious consideration, now that more has suggested it.

  4. dear tine,
fortunately you did not return this beautiful dress. the color is so bright and flattering to your blond hair.
do you have a large paschima like scarf? i would pair it with the dress. i know these scarfs are very expensive but sometimes you get one in cotton wool for a reasonable price.
to wear it with blue tights and your fantastic lace boots is a wonderful idea!
have a good time tine, and i hope your nose will recover soon.

    1. Thank you so much Sabine! I do actually have a Pashmina like scarf, in the very popular dark red colour called Burgundy/Bordeaux/Oxblood! I think it could work very well!

  5. My first thought before I read your post was, "Wow, gorgeous dress!" if that helps. I bet it would look great with different scarves, fitted jackets or cardis, and maybe try some different belts. It is a marvelous color for you.

    1. Thank you very much Lynne! I forgot all about jackets - of course a jacket would help! Cardigans too actually.

  6. I am with Lynne on this! I really do like this blue dress and the colorful scarf is well placed. And of course, your boots win the show : > Thanks for sharing it all with Visible Monday, T!

    1. Thank you so much Patti! Since the dress is getting so much support I promise I'll try quite a few of the suggestions, and keep it for now. The boots are sadly almost worn out, from the inside.

  7. Oh you know how to knock the dress out of the park. The color is divine on you. What about that yellow tulle skirt under it to add some extra pizazz...?

    1. Thank you very much Pao! It's the first time I've seen this expression: Knock the dress out of the park - great! The hem is quite narrow compared to the rest of the dress so I don't think the tulle skirt will work out. But I do have some mustard yellow tights - and matching lurex sock for added warmth!

  8. I like the dress too, it's that lovely flattering shape that suits you so well, and I like the deep blue. I wonder if you feel less enamoured if it because it is a block colour rather than a print? You can always break it up with different coloured scarves, cardigans/jackets, tights, etc.
Hope you are feeling better now. It sounds as though you have been working really hard! xxxx

    1. Thank you so much Curtise! I'm certainly feeling better, and I did try to relax as much as possible in the weekend.

For some reason I never considered wearing a jacket or a cardigan with this dress - well probably because of the long sleeves. Next time I think I'll pair it with my silver lurex cardigan, or maybe the gold...

  9. Ha, ha, I didn't notice it was the same pink scarf. It definitely works with that dress. Nice purple stockings. :-)

    1. Thank you very much Devorah Rachel! The stockings are specially imported from We love colors - in the US! They just don't come in my size in the EU!

  10. I think the pink is gorgeous on you and looks fabulous with the blue.

As for the dress, I don't think it's as unflattering as you think it is, but I can see how it'd be hard to change the shape to a more flattering one because of that twist/knot. I'd otherwise say belt it, but I don't know.

    1. Thank you so much Gracey! The shape of the dress isn't as fitted as other of my dresses - I think that's what bothers me. I'll try wearing it with a cardigan next time, and I may try a belt too, although I'm not a belt person.

  11. I don't see a big blue sack - I see a lovely dress that might allow you to have some extra sweet treats during the dark and cold seasons! I think it would beautiful to style this dress with a bigger square shaped scarf in a soft material, folding it so it would be a triangle and let the corner hang down so it would be a nice draping. I hope it calms down a little bite for you know!

    1. Thank you very much Anna! Don't mention the sweets! I've already treated myself to the Christmas ration!

I've been looking for scarves for some time now - I haven't dared to try a square shape yet because I don't know how to wear it. Your suggestion sounds very good though, so I'll definitely give it a try!

Since my reply is so late things obviously haven't gotten any calmer at all! I seem to be behind on everything!

  12. This dress looks great and very versatile! Don't ever apologize for that beautiful pink scarf; I'd wear it all the time too, it's so pretty!! Wow, too dark by 2pm? I'll stop complaining now.

    Have a great week!!

    1. Thank you so much Jean! When the sky is overcast it's too dark for outdoor photos - if we have clear skies it's alright until around 4pm. But we have a lot of rainy days here, and later snow! So mostly it's too dark, even at 2pm! No wonder I want to emigrate every autumn? This goes on for 5 months!

  13. What a beautiful blue!!! If it is too much trouble to get the arm-hole area taken in a bit, there is plenty of layering potential as others have suggested. I wouldn't have noticed the repeating pink scarf either - when something works so well and looks as beautiful on you as this, enjoy it often!

    1. Thank you so very much Amber! I may wear the scarf a few more
      times this week then!

I never took any photos of the back of the dress, but it's quite special. I'll show you next time - and it makes layering a bit of a challenge. But I'll certainly give it a try!

Taking in the arm-hole area is probably not possible, because of the back feature, but otherwise a great idea!

  14. Oh, this blue looks wonderful on you and the fit is great, but I would shorten this dress and wear it as a tunic over colourful leggings, then the blue wouldn't be so overwhelming.

    1. Thank you very much Melanie! The shortening is a great idea since I wear a lot of the heavier jeggings in winter, and I could do with a few more tunics.

  15. I agree with many others - it is not that bad, the color is great and you could accessorize to death and wear a big belt - But who cares you are cute anyway!

    Have a great weekend

  16. Let me join in the clamour about how great that shade of blue looks on you. I think you are similar in build to me- as in smaller top than middle so I say take the arms in and you're good. But the color is a keeper! Also, feel free to wear the heck out of blue/pink combo as I think the two look so good on you and it could easily become a signature set of hues.

PS: Yes! That's why I added First to the pledge- we don't live in an ideal world where awesome vintage lays about in our attic only to be discovered- we need real life clothes that work- pronto. So yes- shop as you need, and take the pledge! xo Bella Q

  17. Fine farver.
