In a Dash dress

My twelve year old daughter loves to cook, desserts in particular! After watching Masterchef, Junior edition, the regular desserts won't do. So today, on a beautiful and warm autumn day, we went to Lyngby - a larger town nearby, to get those special baking tins she desperately needed.

She was wearing her jeans, and I was in a Dash dress that I bought on sale in early spring. It was bought from one of the UK web shops. As soon as I got it, I thought the colours were more autumn than spring. What do you think?

Dash dress, usual boots, SUNSHINE!

Next time I may wear my silver boots instead of the black, which look a bit hard with this dress. The cut is quite similar to those CC dresses I've been wearing at every opportunity lately!

Maybe a mustard bag next time?

The dress has a sort of fixed waistband that I think do wonder for my lumps and bumps.I haven't tried it with my jeggings, but I imagine that will look fine too.

Red, purple,silver and clear jewellery

I'm not all that satisfied with the accessories. There's something about the colours that aren't right. I think I should have kept everything in autumnal colours only.

Still enjoying the weather

The dress is made of Viscose, and it's from the UK brand Dash. I remember waiting for months to see the price drop before I bought it.  I'm glad I did, and I'm looking forward to remixing it with the right colours.

Saffron-orange-chocolate dessert

After dinner we had the first test dessert. The next dessert she has planned is little treasure chests made from chocolate cake, covered in chocolate creme, and filled with sweets!

In a sun shaped pool of saffron orange sauce there's a chocolate-marzipan bottom layer with  vanilla and orange mousse, nicely shaped and decorated with a piece of chocolate lace! This is a test drive for her birthday party, where she'll be cooking the whole three course dinner herself!

The taste was fantastic! I hope this is the dessert she'll serve for us on her birthday!

  1. I love the dress and I think you are right about it looking cool weatherish. I'm not sure the bag is the best you can do. If you have anything in the new oxblood color that might work. But you look great.

  2. Thank you very much Judy! I totally agree with you. The orange isn't the best. I think both oxblood and brown could be great, or maybe mustard? As I don't have bags in any of those colours this means New Bag, Yeah!

  3. I think you have found the most flattering cut for your body type. Trinny and Susannah would have been proud! I could imagine wearing this dress in the spring too, maybe with with white or light blue accessories. I actually don't think the color of the bag is the problem, I think it would work if you removed those accessories that are not red, so the red could pop more. Otherwise, black accessories would work too, when you wear your black boots.

Wow someone looks to have a lot talent - the desert looks super yummy, and super dangerous!

  4. Thank you very much Anna! Since Trinny and Susannah don't take "clients" over 45 in Denmark, I'm not too happy with them these days! But you're right, I think this shape is a winner! I'll have to try out different accessories with this dress. Since I don't have all colours in my collection, I may have to buy...

You're so right about the dessert - it's forbidden, and it tasted heavenly!

    1. But you are only 35 so it should not be a problem, right! ;-) To be serious I think that is ageism, but I am not sure Trinny and Susannah are the ones to blame, because the Swedish version of the show runs right now and there are people over 45 included. Maybe it is the production team that are ageistic and not Trinny and Susannah?
Buying new accessories doesn't sound to painful! ;-)

    2. I think you may have a point, about the production team. However, it's still Trinny and Susannah's show, so they're still responsible, in some way. And as an admirer through several years it's disappointing.

  5. I got very distracted by the picture of that dessert and forgot whatever humble insight I was going to offer. You are a lucky mom!

To me, the colors in that dress are all-season. I love it. I would style it with silver jewelry. And not just because I style everything with silver jewelry :P

    1. Thank you so much Terri! Yes, she is indeed a skilled cook already. Today we're making sushi together, I'll try and get some photos of that too.

  7. haha, Terri's comment cracks me up. She sure does have skillz and what a scrumptious area to have skills in too.

Sometimes we run out the door and the last thing we can worry about is if the purse is right with the rest of the outfit. Not to mention I don't even own the perfect purse for every outfit like I'd like to have. But then, I wouldn't take the time to switch it out every time anyway. I love the colors in your dress. Do you have a green purse?

    1. Thank you very much Joni! I always change purses, and switch stuff from one to the other, mostly even well ahead of time to leave the house! I know I'm quite alone here! But I don't have a lot of purses, and nothing really suited for this dress. The only green purse I have is an emerald metallic Jil Sander clutch! So, the dress really forces me to go out and get a new purse! Or maybe two, just to be on the safe side!

  8. That dessert is a work of art! WOW! Happy upcoming Birthday to the talented baker. :)

This is a beautiful dress - gorgeous on you! - which could work in any season. For fall, I think blues, grey / silver, and for spring a fresh green and rosy pinks. You are right that the purse is too warm and the black boots too hard; I love your rings and bangles though!

    1. Thank you so much Melanie! After posting I discovered I already have the perfect bag for this dress, maybe even two in fact!

I hope she'll continue to love cooking - and later maybe love driving a car - and love flying a plane (taking her parents on vacation in faraway places!).

    1. Thank you very much Jean! I'm planning on wearing jeggings with the dress, when it gets colder, and boots of course! I'm not sure about the coat, since all my coats are shorter than the dress.

Luck you to have a chef in the house. The dessert looks like something you would discover in a high end restaurant.

    1. Thank you very much Sabine! I think silver is very good with the dress, and I plan to try it with my silver boots, and more silver jewellery. But I still think I need a bit more colour...

I really hope my daughter doesn't get tired of cooking, this is great!
