Summer dress to winter tunic

Earlier this week we had our first nights with frost, and some very cold mornings! Since I haven't worn my striped dress in a couple of weeks now I thought I'd try it with the warmer jeggings instead of tights.

Boots, jeggings and a long cardigan=warm!

These boots are getting a lot of  exposure! Wearing the dress this way allows me to wear it year round, and not having to pack it away for winter. I really like that!

The ever present coral and crystal necklaces

Next time I'm wearing this dress will be a pink version of this outfit - because I have pink jeggings too! I promise it'll be a while though.

Hair rearranged by the autumn wind

Last week I got a new blue dress from CC, remember? The fit was incredible and the colours just what I had been looking for for some time. I couldn't resist wearing it again!

Since the mornings were rally cold I also got out my brand new wool coat - with matching tights! Do you think it's too much?

Not showing legs, just tights!

During the day the sun heated everything up of course, and I nearly had a heatstroke! That just proves that the coat is warm enough for most winter days.

Cool warm coat

The way this dress is cut is just brilliant! It flatters my body and is unbelievably comfortable. So, I ordered another little dress from CC, a little black dress. Well, almost black.

LBD with yellow spots!

It may take me some time to figure out how to style this one, but in the meantime, here's how I wore the blue dress, without the coat.

Look! No coral and crystal necklaces

The silver cardigan is a bit boring with the blue colours so next time I'll try pairing the dress with the gold one. Funny how I get obsessed with anything sparkly in the dark seasons.

New "gold" ring from Evans

Next week is Autumn Holiday - and sadly no school... Yeah!!! On Tuesday I plan to revisit the Indian art exhibition, this time with my daughter. I promise not to bring any more photos!

Since a friend of mine is going to the US on holiday in a few weeks I promised her to ask, if any of you Dear bloggers can recommend  good second hand, thrift or vintage shops in the Orlando and Miami Beach area.

Without knowing for sure my guess is, that there's a Goodwill somewhere close, as they cover the whole country! And if my friend is going to find a few treasures to bring home, it'll most likely be from Goodwill - where the good second hand fairy rules!

Have a great weekend everyone!

    1. Thank you very much Sacramento! It's been hard to wait for the temperature to drop so I could wear the coat.

  2. I am always happy to see your striped dress, it looks so good however you wear it! And your blue CC dress looks great with the pink coat and matching tights, not too much at all!
I am excited to see you style up the new dress, it looks funky!
Btw, to answer your question on my last post, I have a very full wardrobe, and an extra rail, and dresses hanging on hooks all over the place - WAY too much stuff! I repeat-wear many items but don't necessarily blog about them, and will often post pics of something new, wear it a few times, then resell it on Ebay, which then allows me to buy something different. My wardrobe is in a state of constant rotation! But I do need to reduce a little...
    Have a lovely weekend! xxxx

    1. Thank you so much Curtise! It must be very inspiring to have dresses hanging everywhere. A bit like living in a shop? My daughter would love it if I did that too!

  3. This is your best look I have to say. Those boots with the colored tights really make it! I'd suggest shortening the dress to just above the knee so the color can be seen while standing. I love the new dress you ordered. Can't wait to see what colors you put with it. It's fantastic. I'm going to look at their dresses more. They look like really flattering fits and I have a hard time finding dresses that hang right on me.
    Enjoy your weekend!

    1. Thank you very much Joni! The shortening is not going to happen I'm afraid. You have never seen my knees, for a reason! That's why I'd like to change legs with you.

When temperature goes up again I'll wear the dress and the tights with heels, is that alright then?

    3. Thank you again Joni! I don't think you can trust the quality of that photo, where my knees are showing! Or maybe it's just a lucky shot.

    1. Thank you very much Sabine! It's taken me quite some time to get my collection of coloured tights together since I take a size XXL, but it's been worth the wait. I use them all the time, as you can see. It's such an easy way to change an outfit!

I think you should keep your nude tights, they can always go underneath a coloured pair on colder days.

  5. I love the magenta color with your blues!!! In addition to Goodwill, another national names to look for are Salvation Army and Value Village. I don't know that area but there's got to be something!!

Can you tell me about those boots? I really, really love them and wonder if I can find some on-line.

    1. Thank you so much Jean!I'll pass on the names to my friend.

The boots are 10 years old, and as far as I can see, no longer in production, sadly. Mine will only last for so much longer, and I haven't got a clue where else to find boots like these, that will fit my Hobbit like feet! These were from the Footprints line by Birkenstock.

  6. I love clothes that can be worn all year around, but that might not be a surprise as my blog is called four seasons one wardrobe! Love your new wool coat, but didn't you bought a new pink coat last winter too or am I just confused. The black and the yellow dress is fabulous. I would probably wear it with black boots and black tights, to let the amazing pattern speak for it self. The only thing I should add would be a couple of bracelet - but I don't think I need to point it out to the queen of bracelets. Have a great weekend!

    1. Thank you very much Dear Anna! The coat I bought this spring is a light weight cotton, whereas this new coat is a heavy weight wool (with a touch of cashmere too, the label says!).

My plans for the new dress is like you suggest, boots and black tights. For warmer days I'm thinking pumpkin tights with black (patent) shoes could be fun, with heaps of bangles!

  9. You are glowing in purple and blues, and no its never too much with any coloured tights thrown in the mix. :) Hmm I have never thought of wearing jeggings under a dress, might try that. :)

    1. Thank you so much Monica! The jeggings are for colder days, and only with certain dresses. Sometimes it's just too cold for tights, or the dress feels too short. If length is an issue, I find jeggings a better choice that leggings, because of that heavier fabric (giving much needed support to my old thighs).
