summer grocery shopping dress

It has been said so many times by lots of people - always leave the house well  dressed, even if you're just going to the grocery store, since you never know who you're going to meet on the way. So I put on my new dress, my first horizontally striped piece in decades!

New Kaliko dress

As predicted I met parent of my daughter class mates and several of the local dog owners that I often talk to. Some of these dog owners pay a lot of attention to their own appearance and I can see the appreciation in their eyes when I'm well dressed. Others couldn't care less and think I'm quite eccentric which actually amuses me!

Amused!

On my arms I have three new bracelets, and on my finger - a new ring! The big silver bracelet and the new silver ring with the red "stone" is from Evans. The two transparent bracelets are from "Trendsales", the Danish Ebay wannabee!

My new jewellery

Because of my size issues I've been hunting for these bracelets for some time. They're all irregular shaped which I like. I think they match my body shape! I've found a few more of the same shape, they're in the mail!

My family and I were supposed to visit a funfair and have a picnic in the countryside but my daughter is still not well so we stayed home. As she's getting bored she's having a friend over tomorrow. I'm planning to let them do some cooking - maybe bake cookies. Whatever they end up doing I'll post the photos - they love seeing their products on the blog!

Take care everyone and see you soon!

  1. Oooh, tell them to make cookies! I'll live vicariously through them tomorrow while I make chicken salad instead. But I'd rather have the cookies. ;)

Your new dress looks great! Glad you wore it out for errands. We have to do those things or perhaps we won't get a chance to wear it otherwise.

Your bracelets are awesome! I've always loved clear lucite/plastic jewelry and I was looking at a link necklace today at a local consignment shop I almost purchased. Hmmmm may have to go back.
I'd love to have a clear band watch, I bet you would too. ;)
Have a good day in the kitchen!

    1. Thank you very much Joni! I'm telling them!

I already have another outfit planned with this dress. Next week I'm going to Copenhagen Fashion Fair - and I think I'll wear this striped dress, with blue accessories and my big blue bag.

Now that you mention a clear band watch I seem to remember seeing one at Asos.com. They ship everywhere - and they're cheap! Maybe I'll get one too!

    1. Thank you so much Melanie! The dress was so comfortable as well, so I'm sure it'll get a lot of wear. And as I said to Joni, maybe I'll get a clear band watch to go with the bracelets!

  3. The new dress looks great. It's funny how those style "rules" enter our consciousness and then stay there for years. I thought the same about horizontal stripes but have since revised that opinion. Like anything, if the fit is good and the style is flattering, you will look good - and you do! Love the little ruffle detail, and the flashes of pink you've added.
Lovely bangles too. Enjoy the cookie-making! xxxx

    1. Thank you very much Curtise! It's hard though to find the flattering styles - no matter the pattern! But I'm glad that I ignored my old style rule and went for the great fit! I have rules about ruffles too, so it was quite a chance I took here!

  4. That is a very good cut for you and you did a great job styling the dress! I think you daughter need some treats after being sick that long and if it makes her and her friend happy to see the photos of what they made on the blog, you should definitely show it. However, I hope you excuse me if I close my eyes and don't look at the pictures. I have fight a battle with chocolate cookies today and they have screamed for my attention all day long, and it have taken a lot of willpower to ignore them. But, I might have a look at what they did another day ;)

    1. Thank you so much Anna! How did you manage to win that battle? I always loose. Cookies are my soft spot - giving me lots of soft spots! I can tell you that she is feeling so much better today, and the two of them had a great day!

    2. I am so glad to hear that you daughter is much better today, I was starting to getting worried. I suppose I have compensated with good food instead. So I have not been that good.

    3. Thank you so much Anna! Compensation is a challenging concept - always involving things like ice cream, white wine or a new dress!

  7. The horizontal stripes look amazing on you and with the pops of pink, you must have turned a few heads. I agree with you about leaving the house well dressed. If only for myself!

  8. Thank you so much Judith! I still can't get over the fact that I can actually wear horizontal stripes! But the more I look at the pictures the more I'm convinced.

  9. I love the dress too - especially the dingly dangly ruffly bit. The stripes are relatively neutral and you could wear it into winter with maybe a long-sleeved tee.

    1. Thank you very much Narda! The winter idea sounds great - and I hadn't thought of it. I'll definitely give it a try!
