Tiger(ish) printed dress remixed with gold and orange

My closet is very small, as I've explained a couple of times. So, remixing is a discipline I must resort to frequently. Today was such an occasion.

The dress is from CC (where all great dresses apparently come from), and the orange silk scarf/shawl is old.

Isn't this the pattern of a tiger?

I also wore it two weeks ago on the Trinny and Susannah show. The fit is incredible, and I'm learning how to handle beige!

Wearing a scarf this way isn't annoying at all

As long as I can tie my scarves so they stay in place, and will lie reasonably flat on my bust, I'm okay with it. This one stayed on the whole day.

Lovely new ring from Evans

The large ring (with the white dot on)
on my middle finger is new. I originally ordered three, and received two, of which one is too small. This one fits perfectly though, and has already become a favorite. However, I do wish more shops would sell XL size jewellery!

To keep warm outside I wore my magenta wool coat again, which I like with the orange scarf - and my cobalt blue bag.

The brooch is new too, not from Evans though.

As I sort of promised I have photos from this weekend's dinner party. My daughter wasn't at home to help, so I did all the cooking myself!

I usually cook everything myself, but it may seem to some like my daughter does a lot of cooking when we're having dinner guests.

Remember to click the photos to get a larger version

I'm very proud that I've made the candles myself! Last year my daughter made some at her club, and I've wanted them ever since. I love the dramatic atmosphere they create!

close up of amazing candles

Of course I forgot to take photos of all the dishes, but I remembered at the dessert, which is a milk chocolate and mocca mousse with coconut grissini.

The cup is an heirloom form my husband's grandmother

This dessert was brilliant.
I made it the day before, and just decorated it with whipped cream and chocolate shavings when I served it.

This could easily become a classic in our house!

The weather on Friday was fantastic so I took the dog for a long walk.

A lovely November day in Denmark

The dog loved it! I don't think he looks like an eleven year old dog, and he certainly doesn't behave like one - he actually chased his tail later that day!

Congo enjoying the sun

As I wanted to make this year's first Christmas decoration, I took the opportunity to collect materials. A few hedges along the way were discretely helped to a better shape... Here's the result:

It can be placed anywhere

Here's how I made it:
First I took and old and battered gold frame, and stapled chicken wire on to the backside.

Is chicken wire the right word?

Adding the evergreen twigs was easy, a bit like weaving.

Half finished, and much faster than anticipated!

Another photo of the finished product:

Bad lighting - I know!

This ended up being a very long post, and I still have one photo I want to share.

On Wednesday my daughter's club had a 'bring your parents' arrangement. That's when I made the candles.

In addition to the candle making my daughter also taught her dad how to make glass beads (she's very good at it!),  and they had a great time!

Now it's party time! Patti at the Not Dead Yet Style blog has invited me end everyone else to join her for the Visible Monday feast. Come have a look at all the incredible outfits!

Have a lovely week and see you soon!

A touch of yellow to tie it all together!

With a lovely dark and rainy day ahead of me this morning, I ditched my planned silver and neutral outfit and went for a fun and bright one, to fight the gloom.

The primaries with magenta, black and gold

I love how this turned out, with the coat on, so here's a close up of the details:

No room for iPad in the yellow bag=double bagging!

I've had this skirt for more than a year, and not worn it once! For some reason I didn't think any of my tops looked right with it. The colour is a bit difficult since it's blue with a purple undertone. Seeing myself now I realize the light blue colour is a very good choice, especially with the scarf.

Old top, old scarf, old skirt, old boots, old girl!

I can't believe I've had all these pieces in my wardrobe for years, without combining them! Have I been blind?

When the weather gets warmer again (some time in April or May), I'll wear this outfit with coral tights and burgundy shoes.

Although I like the navy scarf with this outfit I don't enjoy wearing it. Being quite busty makes the scarf uncomfortable as it gets 'in the way' all the time. So, at school I looked like this:

Scarves can be tricky with a large bust.

Today was also the last day at school with actual lessons. Exams time start on Monday, and the project is due in mid December. I hope I'll have time for blogging too!

In the meantime we have a weekend and another birthday coming up, with some great friends visiting. It's my turn to cook, so let's see if I can remember to take photos!

Take care everyone, and enjoy your day however rainy or sunny it may be!

The Crazy Christmas Cabaret

On Saturday my family and I had tickets to The London Toast Theatre's annual Crazy Christmas Cabaret. It's in English, so I was quite excited to see how much my daughter would understand.

She did fine as the actors were very careful pronouncing every word very clearly. The Theatre plays in Glassalen which is located in Tivoli - one of Denmark's main tourist attractions.

I decided to go for a quite warm outfit as we were going to spend a few hours outdoors afterwards.

Nothing says Christmas like black and yellow?

I'm wearing some of my most treasured bangles: An old hand-me-down from my mother - bought in Austria in the 60's, a gift from Swedish blogger Anna of Four Seasons One Wardrobe, plus steals from the UK web shop Evans (I always go for the sale items!)

As temperature dropped quite a bit in the evening I really should have worn two pairs of tights, but I underestimated the weather (again!) and went in only my mustard pair:

Mustard and lemon - a classic, right?

In the theatre I tried to take some photos, using my iPhone... The result is mediocre at best! But it's such a lovely old building, it probably dates back to when the amusement park opened, in 1843.

Inside Glassalen

The Chandeliers are beautiful, so of course I had to try a close up...

The wooden ceiling and a chandelier

The show was hilarious, as always. This is their 30th. anniversary! After the show we went out in the amusement park that is already heavily decorated for Christmas, this year with a Russian theme.

Lots of light and colour!

The old carousel

The window display of one of the many shops in Tivoli

Decorations completely covered in glitter!

Modern chandelier by artist Pernille BĆ¼low

I didn't buy anything, but had I had the money I'd have taken the chandelier above home with me! The artist is called Pernille BĆ¼low and she has a web shop, in both Danish and English.

Like on Thursday I'm wearing my last H&M purchase - the bug necklace. I have had second thoughts about wearing it, but since I've already paid for it, it seems a waist not to wear it. I may change my mind of course!

The Christmas-bug necklace

All the beautiful bangles are certainly worth a close up as well, so here goes:

Snakeskin pattern, a Christmas classic!

Today is Monday, and Patti's having a party at her Not Dead Yet Style blog. I'm rushing over to join the others - come have a look at all the fun!

I'm wishing you all a great week!

Blessed by style angels

The last two weeks have been crazy - I've been working day and night to get a school project ready for handing yesterday. I made it, and so far my group and I have done great.

As if things weren't crazy enough, a friend of mine got tickets for one of the Trinny and Susannah shows here in Copenhagen, and she invited me to come along! As they were cancellation tickets I didn't know until an hour and a half before the show. I was sill at school, a 45 min. train ride from Copenhagen - unable to make it home for a change of clothes or getting rid of my enormous laptop!

Here's how we looked, sitting in the studio, before the show started:

My sweet friend Ayesha

Front row seats the whole evening

Just to prove that we were actually there:

The runway

So, if you ever get to see the T&S in Denmark show, I may appear among the audience since they cut up film into bits and place shots of the audience where ever they feel like it. It could be that I'm on the Aarhus or the Helsingor show, although I was really in Copenhagen!

It was fantastic to see how they changed people's appearance - and the victim's reactions. Most of them were truly happy, as were their friends and family. I don't agree with all their decisions but in general they're spot on.

The ladies themselves were of course very elegant, wearing gorgeous ball gowns by Danish designers. Trinny was in a soft "Pink Panther pink" hi low dress with a sequin waistband, and Susannah was in Lemon a lemon yellow floor length dress which I think was by Malene Birger.

Since I had plenty of eye contact with both ladies I count myself blessed by these style angels! Of course I do realize that the angelic appearance is strongest on the runway, wearing ball gowns!

As soon as I got home that evening I took my outfit photos. But at 10 pm, having only slept 4 hours the previous night, I was dead tired - and I think it shows!

Wishing I was in bed already!

The necklace isn't new, but I've been reluctant to wear it since it's the last item I purchased from H&M. By coincidence this necklace will be on TV. Here's a close up:

Too tired to care about camera angles!

I got home late form school on the day before, so the one photo that isn't all blurred, shows my new shoes, and the lovely green tights that should have been light blue. I was so tired in the morning when I got dressed that I didn't notice the different colour!

Green tights instead of light blue

As I mentioned earlier I handed in a project at school yesterday. We also had a presentation so I tried to dress for that:

Coral red and nay blue will be a classic soon?

I glad I kept this dress. It's so easy to style in different ways and with lots of other colours. It looks alright from the back too:

Amazing that polyester can look like this!

I got quite a few suggestions on how to improve the fit of this dress, like taking in the top where it meets the sleeves. But as you see the back is gathered which will course some strange drape like lines on the back. So, I've decided to be  contend with the current shape and fit, and focus on my remixing choices.

The shoes are new, from Irregular Choice's
Bed of Roses range, and on sale (around 1/3 of the original price!), and they're a combination of red patent leather and red glitter tweed - who can ask for more in a shoe?

Lovely warm tweed shoes for winter!

The wedge heels are fantastic for hours on my feet, walking to the bus stop and around school.

Glitter tweed!

Mostly I forget to take photos of the coats I'm wearing, but I really liked the result yesterday so here's me, ready to face the Danish autumn weather:

Oops! Forgot to close the bag properly.

Last but certainly not least - my new haircut! There wasn't any wind blowing on the photos in my last post - I just had really bad hair! I'm so happy with this, although the aim is to have a bit more length.

Not a hint of grey hair at my age!

This is it for now - I'm rushing out of the door in a few minutes. I have surprise tickets for the whole family to a fun event in Tivoli in Copenhagen. More on that tomorrow!

Have a lovely weekend!

Really bad hairday!

In the last few weeks my hair has gone from bad to awful. Due to bleaching and exposure to strong sunshine this summer, it has deteriorated into nylon like tufts. So, please ignore my head on the following pictures - and look at my dress!

Camouflage pattern in pink and brown?

In the next post my hair will be better, I've just come home from the hairdresser's. She's done a marvelous job again!

This morning I wasn't starting so early, so I had time (and light) to take a few photos outside. It wasn't very warm, but I was hot, again. In fact I didn't put on my jacket until I was leaving for the hairdresser in the afternoon. I bet when the real winter weather sets in my hot flushes will be over!

I don't mind turning my back on people in this dress!

This was the last of the CC sales dresses this year. All the sales items are removed from the website, so there's going to be money for Christmas presents for the family after all!

The boots I'm wearing are old, around 10 years. A lot of you have asked about them. They're from Birkenstock's Footprints range, and called Rochelle. Unfortunately they've stopped making them.

When in doubt, wear bangles

Wearing this latest treasure I'm linking up with Patti's Visible Monday party at the Not Dead Yet Style blog although, I'm very late.

Have a great week everyone - and see you soon!

Teal dress with pink scarf

This dress has been  featured in a few posts before, but never with a pink scarf. Yes, the same pink scarf as in the previous posts! I do think these colours look so great together that I just couldn't resist.

Pattern mixing like a true blogger!

The photos were taken at 4 pm, and it was all dark outside, hence the artificial lighting. It wasn't too cold outside, so I wore a short jacket on top of the dress, that I like a lot, but seldom wear because of the weather up here in Scandinavia.

Dark purple with teal and pink

Since it's the dark season I decided a little more colour was in order, so I added my yellow bangles, and turquoise rings. Red lipstick seemed to be the only choice then.

Aren't yellow bangles on everybody's essentials list?

Before I end this post I'd like to share the latest development in the H&M boycott story. The governments in both Norway and Denmark have summoned H&M to meetings, asking for an explanation. We're still waiting to hear the answer.

Remembering a rear view for once!

We are having the family visiting on Sunday, and have all sorts of preparations tomorrow. I'll try to remember taking a few pictures, and give you an explanation!

Have a lovely weekend and see you soon!

Blue Alexon dress

I'm back! After a week of hard work at school, and a runny nose. Today's photos will probably be the last outdoor photos in 2012, it's already too dark at 2 pm!

Alexon dress

At first when I got this dress, I wanted to return it. Then I forgot, and it was too late. Now I'm stuck with it, so I thought I'd give it a chance. It still looks like a big blue sack to me!

Add caption

I know I've worn this pink scarf in every picture on the blog for a month or so, but it just goes with so much. I promise to look for a different one, just to get some variety!

Best bracelets and rings!

What makes Mondays the best days of the week (apart from the weekend!) is Visible Monday at Not Dead Yet Style, hosted by the always elegant and stylish Patti! I'm going to join the fun in a second.

I'm terribly late on commenting on everybody's blogs, but I'll get around to it in the next couple of days. Now I just want to wish you all a happy Monday, and  a great week!
